I. Untold Legends

The first movement displays a contrast between the Russian history associated
with many wars and legends about
Russian warriors from fairytales
(like the famous Illia of Murom for instance). The middle section in this movement depicts how Russians very much appreciate peace.
III. The Fair “Maslenitsa”
( Allegramente di bravura )
In contrast to the second movement,
the third movement is about the
celebration of the rite of spring.
People are saying goodbye to winter, and inviting the new season, spring.
The music is full of smiles, jokes and hope
for a better life. In the middle section of this movement you can hear a melody of the famous Russian folk dance “Barynya” used by many Russian composers in the past.

Composer
Ukraine-born Australian marimbist Sergei Golovko is an acclaimed virtuoso soloist and performer, and a leading percussion pedagogue to countless established percussionists as well as younger generations of musicians.
Sergei is currently Director of the Australian Percussion Academy in Melbourne, which since 2010 has provided
high quality education in percussion, drum-set and marimba performance, for students of all ages,
underpinned by Sergei’s signature teaching methods, with strong focus on technique and precision.
Sergei completed tertiary music training at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory majoring in conducting,
and percussion performance at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music under Professor Dmitry Lukyanov.
Before migrating to Australia in 1996 Sergei worked as a regular soloist and musician with the Russian Orchestra
of the Ostankino TV Company, Orchestra and Concert band of the Ministry of Defence of Russia, and with
the ensemble ‘Theatre of Sounds’ directed by legendary Russian percussionist, professor of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory Mark Pekarsky. With the latter ensemble, Sergei performed works by pioneering
20th Century Russian-Soviet composers including Edison Denisov, Alfred Schnittke, Sofia Gubaidulina,
Vyacheslav Martinov and many others.
Sergei’s colourful interpretations of famous compositions, as well as his own compositions combined with master marimba technique, have attracted tremendous public appeal. Described as “dazzling…a man with helium hands” and his performances are “…percussion pyrotechnics” by music critic Michael Easton, Sergei’s own transcriptions and arrangements have been performed across Australia, including at the Sydney Opera House, and at Hamer Hall,
Arts Centre Melbourne. Some of his most virtuosic arrangements and performances include Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody no. 2, and Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, self-transcribed and performed for marimba and orchestra.
Sergei has toured throughout the world as a virtuoso soloist on xylophone and marimba, presenting solo recitals, playing as a soloist with the orchestras and wind bands at the Royal Albert Hall, London and the Wiener Musikverein, Austria, Kölner Philharmonie and Munich Philharmonic, Germany and many other major Concert venues in Europe and Asia. He is highly sought-after as a guest artist and pedagogue at esteemed Percussion Festivals throughout
the world, with appearances in recent years at European festivals in Russia, Finland, France, Belgium, Germany, England, Austria and Italy; throughout China and Korea in Asia, in South America in Argentina and Colombia,
as well as in his home country, Australia. Sergei is also in high demand as an adjudicator in percussion and marimba competitions throughout the world, including Colombian Percussion Competition, Australian Marimba Competition, Jeju International Percussion Competition in South Korea and others.

Legends and tales are a part of culture, traditions, customs and history of people. Growing up like many
generations of children, I was brought up with glorious and magnificent Russian and Ukrainian folk tales.
The first movement displays a contrast between the Russian history associated with many wars and legends
about Russian warriors from fairytales (like the famous Illia of Murom for instance). The middle section
in this movement depicts how Russians very much appreciate peace.
The second movement is very dramatic. It starts with a famous Russian folk song, which was sung by slaves.
There is a lot of emotional pain and also protest, believing for peace and happiness in the future.
In contrast to the second movement, the third movement is about the celebration of the rite of spring.

The russian According to legends, Ilya Muromets, the son of a farmer, was born in a village near Murom.
He suffered a serious illness in his youth and was unable to walk until the age of 33. He could only lie
on a Russian stove, until he was miraculously healed by two pilgrims. He was then given super-human strength
by a dying knight – Svyatogor – and set out to liberate the city of Kiev from Idolishche to serve Prince Vladimir
the Fair Sun (Vladimir Krasnoye Solnyshko). Along the way he single-handedly defended the city of Chernigov (modern day Ukrainian Chernihiv) from nomadic invasion and was offered knighthood by the local ruler, but Ilya declined to stay. In the forests of Bryansk he then killed the forest-dwelling monster Nightingale the Robber
(Solovei-Razboinik), who murdered travelers with his powerful whistle.
In Kiev, Ilya was made chief bogatyr by Prince Vladimir and he defended Rus' from numerous attacks by the steppe people, including Kalin, the tsar of the Golden Horde. Generous and simple-minded but also temperamental,
Ilya once went on a rampage and destroyed all the church steeples in Kiev after Prince Vladimir failed to invite him
to a celebration. He was soon appeased when Vladimir sent for him
Ilya Muromets's name became a synonym of an outstanding physical and spiritual power and integrity, dedicated to the protection of the Homeland and People. Over time he became a hero of numerous movies, pictures, monuments, cartoons and anecdotes. He is the only epic hero canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church.
In first movement i will represent about Ilya muromets to get win the war with Kiev Pechersk Monastery by the way in this movement adjust to 3 section, For the first i imagination his going by the way to war in this theme it have an strong accent in 16 note they give the feeling and pulse look like the war drum in the military palace.
For the second section I think this sec must be Ilya murom imagination that he might have won the war and put the flag in that town but it is just his imagination. The last section Ilya murom found the enemy who is the best warrior
in Kiev town and then fight together with the knife for a long time and for the last Ilya Murom
had victory the war that looked like in his imagination.

ในยุคกลางที่มีความเหลื่อมล้ำทางสังคมอยู่มาก ทำให้เกิดชนชั้นที่ชื่อว่าทาสเกิดขึ้นในยุคนั้น เเละในตอนนั้นเองที่กำลังจะมีการเข้าสู่การปฏิวัติอุตสาหกรรมเกิดขึ้นผู้คนในตอนนั้นมีการทำการเกษตรขนาดใหญ่เเละเริ่มมีการค้าขายสินค้าส่งออกระหว่างประเทศจึงต้องใช้เเรงงานในการทำงานอย่างมาก เเละในจุดนี้เองที่ทำให้คำว่าทาสได้เเปลเปลี่ยนเป็นชนชั้น ซึ่งชนชั้นนี้ได้เป็นชนชั้นที่ถูกกดขี่อย่างมาก ซึ่งทาสในยุคสมัยนั้นเป็นสิ่งที่ถูกกฏหมายสามารถซื้อขายได้ เเละสามารถส่งออก พวกเขาโดยเปรียบเปรยว่าเป็นสินค้า ซึ่งพอมันเกิดขึ้นสักพักก็ทำให้ชนชั้นนี้ได้มีการรวมกลุ่มเเละเริ่มพบปะกันมากขึ้นเลยเกิดเป็นกลุ่มที่ไว้พูดคุยเปลี่ยนความคิดเห็นต่างๆรวมทั้งยังมีการสังสรรค์ งานรื่นเริงหลังจากการทำงาน

ชื่อเทศกาล Maslenitsa มาจากคำว่า Maslo เเปลว่าเนย น้ำมันในภาษารัสเซีย ตัวเเทนสัญลักษณ์ของเทศกาลนี้คือ เเพนเค้กเเละเค้กต่างๆ ที่มีรูปทรงคล้ายกับดวงอาทิตย์ เพราะตามหลักความเชื่อของพวกเขา พระอาทิตย์มักจะงดงามเเละมอบความอบอุ่นให้กับโลกใบนี้ เเละเทศกาลนี้มีอีกชื่อเรียกคือเทศกาลเเพนเค้ก การเฉลิมฉลองเทศกาลนี้จะถูกจัดขึ้นในสัปดาห์สุดท้ายก่อนจะถึงเทศกาลมหาพรต
เทศกาลนี้จะถูกจัดขึ้นเป็นเวลา 3 สัปดาห์โดยสัปดาห์เเรกจะเป็นอาทิตย์เเห่งการกิน ในอาทิตย์นี้ผู้คนจะกินทุกอย่างเเบบไม่จำกัดเเละได้กินในสิ่งที่ตัวเองอยากกิน สัปดาห์ที่สองจะเป็นงานร่าเริงสลับกับกับวันถือศีลอด ในสัปดาห์สุดท้ายจะเป็นสัปดาห์งดรัปทานเนื้อสัตว์เเต่สามาราถทานผลิตภัณฑ์จากนมสัตว์ได้ เเละในสัปดาห์นี้ เเต่ละวันก็จะเเตกต่างกันไปโดยใน 3 วันเเรกผู้คนก็จะทำงานปกติเมื่อถึงวันพฤหัสบดีก็จะมีงานเฉลิมฉลองอย่างยิ่งใหญ่ เเละวันที่เหลือก็จะเป็นวันหยุดงานเเละเตรียมเฉลิมฉลองวันอำลาฤดูหนาว
